Que Bella
Before making our way over the very treacherous, but beautiful, mountain road that leads to the coast, we decided to do a little bit of wine tasting.

Dry Creek Road is Healdsburg’s answer to the completely over-crowded and (mostly) over-rated Napa Valley wine tasting scene. Most of the tastings are free and it’s absolutely idyllic.

There are very few cars and people; it’s mostly vineyards and farmhouses so we made friends with the animals. This goat has crazy eyes, doesn’t it? It scared me. I think someone could make a legitimate horror movie about a killer goat, starring this guy.

We only stopped at two wineries. The first, Raymond Burr, was on a whim because I saw they had these pretty lanterns. We got a 2006 Chardonnay. It turned out to be delicious.

Then, on Mike’s sitster’s recommendation we went to Bella a bit further up the road. I got their Old Vine Zinfandel; the best dessert wine I’ve ever tasted. But the real treat was the view and these amazing lavender bushes. Isn’t that color beautiful?
I really think you should drop whatever it is you’re doing and go here right now. Seriously, there’s no time to waste.
